A Bright Spot in the City

Abby's House is a multi-service, non-profit organization in Worcester, Massachusetts that serves homeless and battered women and children. Founded in 1976 by a group of activists led by Annette Rafferty, Abby’s House has helped thousands of women and children make their way out of the chaos of homelessness.

Abby’s House accomplishes its work with broad and solid grassroots support – nearly half of our operating budget is provided by individuals and community groups. Over 200 trained and dedicated volunteers join our small paid staff to provide a lifeline of programs and services for women and children living in poverty. We are in this for the long haul, and we invite you to join us in our commitment to empower women to lead self-directed lives filled with dignity and hope.

Abby's House provides public education on the issues affecting the women we serve through speaking engagements in the greater Worcester area.  If you are interested in booking a speaker please call Edla Bloom at (508) 756-5486 ext. 35.

Give Hope, Take Heart

Would you like to know more about the effects of abuse on women, including domestic violence, and how to help survivors in their healing process?  Executive Director, Tess Sneesby, recently met with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority at Worcester State College to give a talk on women, trauma and recovery.  You may see the full text of the talk in MS Word, or as an Adobe Acrobat file.  You may also view the PowerPoint presentation.
