Community Service Program |
I believe the path towards inmate rehabilitation begins and ends with hard work, and the Community Service Program is a great tool in accomplishing that goal. We currently have six inmate work crews that must meet strict criteria for eligibility, including: conviction of a non-violent offense, a spotless record while incarcerated, and within the last six months of their sentence. These inmates spend 7-8 hours per day on projects ranging from landscaping, construction, and painting to snow and ice removal, and debris cleanup. By having inmates complete these much-needed projects, we not only teach them a valuable skill, we also save local municipalities thousands of dollars on projects that likely wouldn't get done due to fiscal constraints. Over the last four and a half years, we've completed over 600 projects, saving local taxpayers over $4.2 million in labor costs.
Please feel free to browse the list of towns to your left to see what projects we've completed in your town.
