West Boylston – Citing Sheriff Glodis’ commitment to corrections reform and innovation, through the introduction of over 15 new programs at the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the New England Council on Crime and Delinquency presented the 2007 John R. Manson – Carl Robinson Award to Sheriff Guy Glodis yesterday during ceremonies held in North Conway, NH. This award honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the field of criminal justice within the New England area.
“While it is truly humbling to be recognized by NECCD, this award really belongs to the 650 Officers and staff at the Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Glodis stated. “They work tirelessly to make our vision of reform and modernization a reality.” The New England Council on Crime and Delinquency is a 500-member organization comprised of practitioners, supervisors, administrators, volunteers, officers and employees in various local, state, regional and federal law enforcement and criminal justice agencies.
This is the 22nd presentation of the Manson-Robinson Award, and was named for John Manson, the former Commissioner of Corrections in Connecticut, and Carl Robinson, the former Warden of Somers State Prison in Connecticut. President of NECCD, John McDermott, credited Sheriff Glodis with pursuing an aggressive reform agenda based on both inmate rehabilitation and community service: “What sets an effective administrator apart is leadership, and the ability to combine decisive action with definitive results; and Sheriff Glodis has done just that.”
Sheriff Glodis was specifically recognized for his implementation of the Almost Home Program, Fathers and Families Program, Responsible Fatherhood Initiative, Substance Treatment Opportunity Program (STOP), and community-oriented programs such as the Community Service Program, Christmas Dinner and Winter Coat Donation Programs. This is the first time in five years a recipient has been named from Massachusetts. |
