The Community Service Program is one of the ways that the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office can directly enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Worcester County.  The Community Service Programs allows inmates, upon the request of community leaders, to visit locations throughout Worcester County and work on a variety of projects.  By allowing inmates to provide a range of services, (including construction work, painting, landscaping, snow & ice removal, sanitation services, carpentry, and debris removal, to list just a few), taxpayers are saved valuable dollars which would otherwise have to be allotted to accomplish these tasks.  The Community Service Program, which has been significantly expanded under Sheriff Guy W. Glodis’s new administration, is a win-win situation for both the community and the inmates, and will continue to be expanded in the coming months as resources allow.

Some of the recent projects completed by the Community Service Program are:
  • * Auburn District Nurses                  * Southbridge Boys & Girls Club
  • * Fitchburg Senior Center                * You, Inc., Baldwinville
  • * Auburn Town Hall                          * Hands Across America, Upton
  • * St. Paul’s Rectory, Blackstone      * Camp Laurelwood, Spencer
  • * Charlton Little League                    * West Boylston Pool
  • * Sacred Heart School, Gardner      * Brookfield Town Hall
  • * Millbury Housing Authority             * Hopedale Crossroads
