SHERIFF GLODIS ANNOUNCES RATIFIED
M.C.O.F.U. CONTRACT

West Boylston – Resolving one of the most problematic issues for the prior administration, Sheriff Guy Glodis announced today the ratification of a three year contract for the Massachusetts Corrections Officers Federated Union, ending an 18-month dispute in less than two weeks.

“This new contract shows the commitment and willingness from both sides, Officers and administration, to addressing our many challenges at the jail united, not separated,” Sheriff Glodis stated.  “We’ve developed a lasting partnership that has removed politics from the day-to-day jail operations, and replaced it with efficiency and focus.”

The contract was passed by the Union membership by an unprecedented four to one margin, an overwhelming show of support for both the Union leadership and the new Glodis Administration.

Sheriff Glodis continued: “The backbone of this institution is not the administration; it is the Corrections Officers who walk the block every day.  This successful contract sets the table for much-needed reform and modernization of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office.”

Secretary Eric Kriss of the Executive Office of Administration and Finance notified the Sheriff of the contract’s approval, which includes a 2% raise each year for the next three years, the retention of management rights over the assignment of specialty jobs, and the inclusion of full seniority and shift bidding rights for officers on the line.
