West Boylston –
Joined by over 3,100 law enforcement officials from nearly 1,000 local, county, state and federal agencies, Sheriff Guy Glodis today announced the successful completion of Operation FALCON (Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally), apprehending over 10,300 felons nationwide.  In Massachusetts, 285 fugitives with 663 warrants were captured by 60 officers from different agencies, including the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department.

“This Operation was part of a larger goal to make the resources of the Sheriff’s Office more readily available in partnerships with local and state authorities,” Sheriff Glodis stated.  “By working together, we accomplished the largest and most successful fugitive sweep in the nation’s history.”  Image

Offenses charged in the warrants for those arrested in Massachusetts include 234 narcotics violations; 145 assaults, with sex offenses for 10 of those arrested; 41 firearms violations; 11 robbers; 67 burglaries and larcenies; and 155 other offenses.

Highlighted among those arrested was Mr. Kevin Lombardo, wanted for armed robberies in Auburn and Southbridge, 22 weapons violations and four drug offenses.  Mr. Lombardo was arrested in Sutton.

Sheriff Glodis concluded: “Today is an enormous victory not only for the officers involved, but most importantly for the victims of these fugitives’ crimes.   The justice they’ve hoped for will now be handed down.”
