West Boylston – Sheriff Guy Glodis was presented an “Outstanding Partner Award” today by Worcester County 4-H in recognition for a number of new programs and initiatives implemented in conjunction with 4-H over the last year and a half.   Ms. Penny Marston, Director of the 4-H’s Camp Marshall in Spencer, presented the award.

“Since taking office, Sheriff Glodis has worked tirelessly to establish local and regional partnerships with groups like 4-H,” Ms. Marston said.  “He has given us so much support, and we’re truly grateful for everything he’s done.” Image

In April of 2005, the Sheriff donated the remaining horse in the Sheriff’s Department stables, a 15 year-old draft horse, as well as riding saddles and jumping equipment.  More recently, the Sheriff’s Department has partnered with the Worcester Police Department and Worcester County 4-H in expanding the Gang Awareness for Next Generation (GANG) Program, a week-long summer camp for at-risk youth.

“One of my goals has been to use the resources of the Sheriff’s Office to support groups like 4-H and give them the resources they need,” Sheriff Glodis stated.  “Penny and everyone at Camp Marshall do such a tremendous job; they are a true asset to the Spencer community.”

Camp Marshall has been in operation for over 50 years, and is located on 275 acres bordering Thompson Pond.  The Camp runs week-long programs in water activities, farm life, crafts, horsemanship, and a unique Challenge program that includes a low ropes course, archery, and team sports.
